🎮 From World of Warcraft to CatalystOne: David's Unexpected Path to His Dream Job
Twenty years ago, David spent countless evenings playing World of Warcraft with a friendly group of people from all across Europe. Many of the friendships formed in that virtual world grew into real-life relationships, including friends he still travels across Europe to visit today.
Fast forward ten years: David had just left his role as Digital Marketing Manager at a large international corporation. Despite the impressive title, something important was missing. He longed for a place where people cared about each other, worked as a team, and shared a common purpose. Job interview after job interview didn’t quite offer that feeling.
💬 Then one day, a message arrived from one of his old World of Warcraft friends — a “big, scary warrior” in the game, but in real life a kind and brilliant guy from Norway called Arvid. He asked if David could help the company he worked for with marketing. At first, David declined, but his friend persuaded him to at least fly to Oslo and meet the team.
That trip changed everything.
From the moment he arrived, David felt something familiar: warmth, humour, intelligence and team spirit. It didn’t take long before he knew: this was where he belonged. Even if it meant joining remotely as the only Danish employee at the time.
Nine years later — and now in his third role at CatalystOne — David is still here, still working alongside his old World of Warcraft friend Arvid, and still loving the culture he instantly connected with.
đź’Ľ David today: Head of Regional Marketing at CatalystOne
David now leads a team of marketers across the Nordics, responsible for campaigns, ABM, events, and social media. His workdays are a blend of coordination, coaching, and hands-on execution of larger initiatives — a mix he thoroughly enjoys.
❤️ What makes the work meaningful
For David, the most rewarding part is seeing the real impact of their efforts:
“Watching CatalystOne grow from a relatively unknown company to one of the leading Nordic players in the midmarket makes me incredibly proud.”
🧩 How his team supports development
CatalystOne has a culture that encourages initiative and personal growth. Employees are given the freedom to explore their strengths and are supported with weekly development time for courses, learning, and skill-building.
“It’s allowed me to dive into everything from solution selling to change management.”
His proudest moment
A standout memory for David was visiting a school in India that CatalystOne has supported for many years through its CSR program — a moment that reinforced why purpose matters.
🌟 What would David tell someone considering joining CatalystOne Marketing?
“That we have an amazing team with strong spirit, lots of freedom, and a culture where you can truly be yourself. The impact of your work is visible, and you feel it every day.”
