From Intern to Full-stack Developer: How Alexander Found His Place at CatalystOne Engage

“I may be new in my current role, but I’ve been with CatalystOne Engage for quite a while,” says Alexander, a Fullstack Developer in our Stockholm office. After two summers as an intern, he recently joined the team full-time — and he’s already making an impact.
A Day in the Life
Most days you’ll find Alexander coding new features, fine-tuning existing ones, and collaborating closely with colleagues to solve problems on the Engage platform.
“My days are a mix of programming, problem-solving, and team meetings. There’s a lot of collaboration and I’ve learned that the best solutions usually come from working together.”
Joining the Team — and Staying
His journey with CatalystOne Engage began during a university career day. “I was looking for a summer internship where I could write production-level code and gain real-world experience. CatalystOne Engage offered that but what really stood out was the responsibility they gave me, even as an intern.”
From day one, Alexander felt that his work mattered. “That feeling of contributing to something meaningful hasn’t gone away; that’s why I chose to come back.” 🪃
Making an Impact
“One of my proudest moments was seeing a feature we built during my internship become part of the platform used by thousands of users every day. Knowing something I helped create is helping people in their daily work is really rewarding.”
For Alexander, the close collaboration between teams and direct feedback from customers is part of what makes the job so meaningful. “When a customer says a new feature is helping them, even in a small way, that gives my work real purpose.”
Support That Fuels Growth
Starting as an intern with limited experience, Alexander appreciated how open and supportive his team was. “I asked a lot of questions. Everyone was more than happy to help and give feedback, and that helped me grow quickly.” 🌱
He was also encouraged to explore both front-end and back-end areas of the platform to find what interested him most. “That freedom helped me find my own path and become more confident as a developer.”
Advice for Future Developers
“Whether you join as an intern or full-time developer, ask questions! Discuss things with your teammates. It’ll help you see problems differently and grow faster. Everyone was new once and that mindset really shaped my transition into the team.”
Beyond the Code
When he’s not working, Alexander enjoys staying active. “I love sports — football, running, and cross-country skiing are some of my favourites. They’re a great way to get outside and hang out with friends.”
He also enjoys slower moments: “Catching up with friends over coffee or at a dinner party is always a highlight.”
